Cleveland Cavaliers megastar LeBron James thinks the New York Knicks’ silent routine was “pretty cool”.

LeBron James didn’t have any problems with the New York Knicks and Golden State Warriors playing the first half of last night’s game without music.

In a story by longtime Miami Heat beat writer Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel, LeBron James discussed matters from the ease with which he believes the Cleveland Cavaliers will be able to fast-track their recent additions, to making the NBA All-Star Game more competitive while continuing to keep players out of harm’s way.

One topic James also touched on, which has been controversial since Draymond Green called it “pathetic” and Stephen Curry said was weird, was the New York Knicks removing the music from the game for the first half.

The reason for such a move, although NBA fans have grown accustomed to hearing music throughout the game, was so that fans could hear the game in its purest form.

What does that mean to James (from the same story)?

"“You give fans an opportunity just to hear the sneakers, the ball, the shot, the moans and grunts, the players calling out plays and things of that nature”.“I think that’s a pretty cool idea”."

In the same article, James, who said he’s “all about authenticity” believes the Knicks were “doing it for just to get the authentication of the game itself” so he understands but “we know that music is also part of basketball”.

However, James, a noted basketball historian who told the New York that Madison Square Garden is his favorite arena to play in and he would play every game in the arena if he could, could just be reacting like a fan.

Not a fan of the Knicks per se but of Madison Square Garden. “[MSG is] the Mecca of basketball’’, James said.

As he said, “the Knicks can do whatever they want”.

While Green felt like it ruined the fun, there are some who can manage to play a game without music. I’m sure Green, or others, have played pickup basketball games without music and people have watched people play basketball games without music before.

I’m sure they still enjoyed the experience.

Perhaps, if the fans and players weren’t blindsided by the experience, the New York Knicks silent routine would have went more smoothly. If Green thought that the Knicks were trying to disrupt their rhythm with a tactic, the Knicks seemed to be caught off-guard as well.
