The release of NBA 2K17 is around the corner. The Cleveland Cavaliers have already been featured in a leaked video and now some ratings have been released.

One of the best parts about the beginning of the NBA season is the release of NBA 2K’s annual hoops game. This year there has been a big social media push with player screenshots and their ratings to help promote the game.

Two Cleveland Cavaliers had their ratings released on Twitter. Summer League Sensation Jordan McRae and rookie point guard Kay Felder both released their NBA 2K17 ratings on Twitter on Friday.

McRae, despite having little NBA experience, has proven that he can ball out on a professional level. He scored a D-League record 61 points in a game for the Deleware 87ers during the 2015-16 season. Later in the regular season, he scored 36 points against the Detroit Pistons.

During the Las Vegas Summer League, he led the summer in scoring 24.3 points per game in a minimum of five games played. He is a ball-dominant guard that can get to the rim at an elite level. With NBA 2K17’s increased focus on skill moves, it would make sense that McRae has a higher rating.

Of course, he does lack defensively which could be what is hurting his rating. Though starting at a 70 gives McRae plenty of room to increase his rating by three or four points this season, assuming he lands key playing time at either the point guard or shooting guard position.

Felder has played the role of underdog his entire life. He is 5-foot-9 and wasn’t highly recruited out of high school and then went on to be the only player to break the top five in scoring (24.4 points per game) and assists (9.3 assists per game) during the 2015-16 college season.

Now, Felder has to prove himself again as a rookie at the NBA ranks. He could be the backup point guard to Kyrie Irving, due to his playmaking abilities and aggressiveness on the defensive end. As the lone two-way player out of himself, McRae and Mo Williams, he has a good chance at winning the backup point guard role.

The NBA 2K series has a history of rating players at a specific point and boosting their overall ratings as the season goes on to reflect their play. McRae and Felder appear to be a few ticks below expected, but again, they are unproven at the NBA level.
