LeBron Puts The World On Notice

In winning the East, LeBron James has put the world on notice.

With 21 points at halftime, with three 3s, as well as passionate and aggressive defense, the Cleveland Cavaliers were just beginning to stretch a lead before halftime, and LeBron was displaying a beastliness that was required to get them to that point. He alone is actually required to lead to his team to the NBA Finals every year simply because of public belief that his greatness should bring him there, and for the sixth year in the row, he’s delivered.

This spectacular feat is accompanied by these recent accolades:

  • 4th in all-time postseason points
  • 2nd all-time in postseason games played
  • 3rd all-time in assists
  • 6th all-time in threes made
  • 12th all-time in rebounds
  • 26th all-time in blocks
  • 5th all-time in steals (3 away from tying John Stockton for 4th)
  • 6th all-time in minutes played (a game away from passing Shaquille O’Neal for 5th all-time)
  • 8th and lone player not from the 60s-70s Celtics dynasty to reach six straight NBA Finals

LeBron finished with 33 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 blocks, a steal, a putback, got to the line for seven attempts, and made three of six threes, As he said to Doris Burke postgame, “I had to be in attack mode from the beginning”. LeBron’s supercharged performance is accentuated by his accolades. Watch him and it’s like you’re hearing Rachmaninov, LeBron is a classic. Maybe not Mozart, the first name many can think of in terms of classical music but maybe better than this legend, the complexities and emotions of the notes drawing you in and LeBron is just going to work, setting up his teammates, chasing the ball, and being and unstoppable scorer.

Much has been said about his leadership, his social media use, his team chemistry. The attention slid to a new commodity in the NBA and an attractive one at that. In all the hoopla, LeBron’s greatness has been undervalued. His teammates have followed his lead, have accepted his teaching, and have respected and at times revered his greatness. He’s made them friends, allies, students, brothers. He’s boosted them up and offered criticism and praise, while never failing to call them superstars, or point out that it’s a team effort. He respects his coaches, alludes to and applauds their work.

He’s been undervalued. His throne

supposedly usurped by the baby-faced assassin. Yet, his playmaking was understated the entire season, his talents were cast aside, his leadership was overlooked. Yet you look straight ahead at your tv for the sixth straight year, and LeBron isn’t just playing in the Finals, he’s put forth a sensational performance to lead his team to the Finals. Though not being the leader scorer in the first two rounds, he was letting Kyrie and Love get their feet wet against the competition. He didn’t hold their hand and score them through it, he micromanaged particular aspects of the game when he had the ball, but when he gave it up he let them make decisions. When the situation got tough he didn’t panic, he showed his belief in their talents. Now, after overcoming their own adversities, both players are ready for what LeBron was preparing them for, the NBA Finals. The lights of the NBA Finals can ruin your performance, as he knows, you can overthink.

More from King James Gospel

Fast forward two championships later, LeBron is an established champion, future Hall of Famer, and top three player all-time indisputably still playing at the highest level but a mature layer envelopes his game now. This LeBron is Rachmaninov masquerading around as a basketball deity. With the way he made it to his sixth straight Finals appearance, LeBron is putting the world on notice. You’ve underestimated him, and you’ll regret it. He can be MJ, he can be Magic, but he’s LeBron. The best of both worlds and the throne that you thought was taken by somebody else, has always had his name on it, like those old LeBron commercials on ESPN with Scott Van Pelt.

I don’t think this is the end of LeBron’s prime. I believe this is the beginning of a better LeBron, the beginning of something new. We may witness a dynasty in Cleveland. After the game, when talking about the Cavaliers who just reached the NBA Finals LeBron said, “I still believe we can get better”. One day, LeBron may be the all-time postseason leader in every statistical category including championships, and Finals MVPs. His leadership will be recognized as will his talents. His unique level of greatness. LeBron you have my attention, you’ve put the world on notice.
