NBA Playoffs Day 6 Breakdown
The NBA Playoffs got a little more interesting last night. Our breakdown of all the action.
We missed a day, happens sometimes while working full time jobs as well as covering two professional teams. My apologies.
But we are back at looking at the NBA Playoffs and specifically how each game impacts our Cleveland Cavaliers.
Thunder Vs Mavericks
After losing to the Mavs by 1 point, in a pathetic effort, the Thunder came back strong last night. A 131 – 102 win where Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook played great while getting good games from Enes Kanter and Dion Waiter.s.
The Mavs probably got their one shot in, in Game 2 and could be taken out in 5 games. Just not enough firepower to keep up with OKC even when 5 players score in double figures.
For the Cavs, the Thunder need to be clicking on all cylinders to give the Golden State Warriors a test. The Thunder have the type of team that could be difficult for GSW, even though no one has given them a very tough time. A long series, or a Thunder win obviously, would be huge for the Cavs chances against the Warriors.
Series: 2 – 1 Thunder
Raptors Vs Pacers
The Raptors flopped in Game 1 but have now taken back homecourt advantage. Toronto’s 2 stars played better, if still inefficient, in this game. Their defense and balanced scoring really were the difference as the Pacers struggled to get things going offensively.
The Pacers have the best player on the floor but didn’t get enough from Monta Ellis to give the Raptors much of a scare. Only 9 shot attempts for Ellis is a low amount for the gunner. The Pacers still have a chance to get at least a 2nd game and push the series to 6 or 7 games.
The Raptors are not the Cavs biggest threat in the East, the Heat seem to hold that place, but still are dangerous. A long series might actually be good for the Raptors as their young pieces gain more experience.
Series: 2 – 1 Raptors
Warriors Vs Rockets

Some have raised questions whether Stephen Curry‘s injury is more concerning than they are letting on. Either way, the Warriors stayed close in their 2nd game without their star but fell to the Rockets. Role players Ian Clark and Marreese Speights had big games while Draymond Green dribbled a game-winning chance off his foot then suplexed Michael Beasley.
The Rockets bench was not that excited when James Harden hit the game winner and were lifeless for most of the series. Odds are against them showing enough life to win another game, especially if Steph comes back.
Winning without Steph really helps the Warriors confidence. Losing without him does very little. if Curry is hurt, the Warriors likely miss making the NBA Finals. If Curry is limited, the Cavs chances are that much greater if/when they meet in the Finals.
Series: 2 – 1 Warriors
