The Cleveland Cavaliers could be very busy at the NBA Trade Deadline is current Cavs Rumors are to be believed.

The Cavs still have the best record in the Eastern Conference. The Cavs till have a Big 3 of LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love. The Cavs still have some impressive depth with Tristan Thompson, Matthew Dellavedova, J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert.

The Cavs also have very little considered as trade assets. Their two Traded Player Exceptions (one big from Brendan Haywood and one small from Mike Miller), Cedi Osman and their 2018 1st Round pick. Timofey Mozgov and Anderson Varejao also might have some trade value for a variety of reasons.

All those trade assets could add up to very little when conversations between GM David Griffin and his counterparts take place.

According to Brian Windhorst, the Cavs rumors are running strong with notes all over the place. They include the Cavs being willing to deal Varejao and Mozgov and looking to trade with the Kings or for Kyle Korver. We will address each after the tweets:

Dealing Andy would hurt in two different ways. First, The Wild Thing is a fan favorite and a friend to LeBron. It would be tough to win a Title after dealing him but might have to do so. Second, Andy’s contract has non-guaranteed parts that could help the Cavs in the next season or two get rid of some salary.

Doesn’t look like the Cavs are getting any interest but that could change as teams look to get rid of salary and/or a player.

Moving Mozgov makes sense for the Cavs as he has struggled to make the kind of impact he had last season. His confidence is gone leading to a ton of problems. The Kings, with DeMarcus Cousins and Willie Cauley-Stein, likely have little interest in Timo except either to trade to another contender or to get rid of salary.

Kosta Koufos makes sense as a target for the Cavs. Koufos is signed for 3 more years at under $8 million. He is a quality big that doesn’t seem to figure into the Kings long term plans. Timo plus Sasha Kaun would be enough to make the salaries work.

So far, the Kings are not interested in whatever the Cavs are trying to accomplish.

Korver is an interesting target. He had a great season last year but is 34 years old and not having a good season this year. He would be an obvious fit around the drive and kick game of LeBron and Kyrie. He is a good team defender and is a more stable player than J.R.

A Mozgov for Korver trade works straight up, the Hawks are missing Tiago Splitter who is hurt and could use a big. The Cavs would likely have to add more than that to make a deal. However, if the Hawks do blow things up, there are a lot of players on their team the Cavs should have interest in.

The Cavs could sit still between now and the NBA Trade Deadline but if Windy’s Cavs rumors are true it could be an interesting few weeks.
