Cavs Vs Celtics Game 3: Great Experience for Cavs
The Cleveland Cavaliers took their series with the Boston Celtics to 3 – 0 last night. Cavs Vs Celtics has basically gone as most expected in the record column but how we have gotten there may have surprised some people. The Celtics won the 1st quarters of both the first two games. Game 3 was a back and forth affair that was difficult for the Cavs and their fans.
We could spend time on the referees, and we will. We could spend time on Kevin Love‘s first “great” game in his NBA Playoffs, and we will. We could talk about the Cavs likely sweep Sunday, and we will. Finally we could spend some time on LeBron James‘ revenge against the team that bounced him out in 2010, and we will.
Instead we want to hit on how great of an experience Game 3 was for this Cavaliers team. It was a tough, physical game that the Cavs were able to pull out a win. It was a game that was close against a feisty, determined team in their home environment. It was a great experience for players like Love, Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson:
- They fought off a game where the refs didn’t seem to be fairly calling the game.
- The Cavs finally won a 1st quarter.
- They didn’t lose their cool with a team trying to get in their head.
- They won a game while shooting 63% from the foul line, on 24 shots.
- They didn’t need Kendrick Perkins to come in and be an enforcer.
- They won with Irving shooting 3-11.
- They won with Timofey Mozgov only playing 19 minutes.
- J.R. Smith found a better stroke, shooting 50% from the field.
- They finally shut down Isaiah Thomas, who only had 5 points and 2 assists.
- The Cavs lost their leads but never let the Celtics take a big lead.
Game 3 was a perfect experience for the Cavs as we look forward in the NBA Playoffs. The Cavs will likely face off with the tough Chicago Bulls. A Bulls series is likely to be physical, chippy and full of emotion. The crowd in Chicago will be loud, the refs will likely give the home Bulls the benefit of the doubt and the Cavs’ stars may all have off nights.

Last night’s game prepared the Cavs for a series with the rough and tumble Bulls but also for the grind of the rest of the NBA Playoffs, should they continue. The Cavs will need to continue to learn to grind out wins but also how to grind out series. They won’t just be able to flip a switch and let their amazing talent take over anytime they want.
While Cavs Vs Celtics Game 3 was a struggle at times, unfair at others, it was a great experience for the team. You can bet that LeBron gave a similar message to his teammates following the game.
