Phoenix Suns

As reported here on King James Gospel and other outlets, the Phoenix Suns are making noise about packaging some of their picks to swing for the fences and land an established star to help carry them into the playoffs in the West. The Suns are in a pretty bad spot unless they happen to win a championship this year, which they probably won’t.

They have blown away pre-season expectations. Eric Bledsoe looks like a man suddenly in control of his potential destiny. The team plays hard and they have obviously bought into the system. But how good could they have been if they had seen this kind of internal development and still lost enough games to nab a Top 3 pick? Makes you kind of wistful thinking about it! It seems unlikely they’ll be able to put together a losing streak that would put them on par with the dregs of the West (Sacramento, Utah) or even the middle-tier of the East. Though it could have been a wonderful thing to see Andrew Wiggins end up in a great environment like Phoenix, the Suns are doing something right. Don’t ruin it by a hopeless race to the bottom.
