The Mavericks struggled to find the right role for Darren Collison in his first season with Dallas. Collison’s been a solid contributor throughout his brief career. However he’s on his third team in four years in the league and there’s a reason for that: namely, defense. Also his penchant for giving the ball to the other team can concern coaches. The good news for Darren is that there’s always a place in the league for a guard who can put the ball in the hoop. Collison is best fit for a team who can afford to bring him off the bench where he was most efficient this year. Chris Paul seems like a distant dream for Mark Cuban now, so odds are he’ll look to hold on to Collison and hope to bring in some other form of point guard help as well.
