Pistons vs. Cavaliers prediction and odds for Wednesday, February 8 (Cleveland stays hot)
By Peter Dewey
The Cleveland Cavaliers have jumped back into the No. 4 spot in the Eastern Conference with a little three-game win streak, and they’re looking to keep the momentum going on Wednesday night against the Detroit Pistons.
This is the third time this season that these teams will meet, and Cleveland took the first two matchups, winning by 24 and eight points in those games.
Detroit has the worst record in the Eastern Conference, and it has struggled to sustain any success with Cade Cunningham (shin) out for the season.
Cleveland has been a far superior team at home than on the road, posting a 22-6 record at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in the 2022-23 campaign.
With the Brooklyn Nets struggling following their trade of Kyrie Irving, the Cavs have a real chance to stick in the top four seeds in the East.
Cleveland is set as a huge favorite, but is the best bet to take the Cavs to cover the spread? Here are the latest odds and my pick for this game:

Pistons vs. Cavaliers prediction and pick
Both of the matchups between these teams this season came in Detroit, so this is the first time Cleveland gets to do some home cooking against the Pistons.
The Cavs are an impressive 17-9-1 against the spread as home favorites, and they’ve been on the right side of several blowouts lately. Cleveland has beat the Washington Wizards by 23, the Indiana Pacers by 19 and Memphis Grizzlies by 15 on this three-game winning streak.
That’s a bad sign for the 12.5-point underdog Pistons, who are 13-12-2 against the spread as road dogs in the 2022-23 season.
The Cavs come into this game with the No. 1 defense in the NBA, while Detroit has struggled mightily on that side of the ball, coming in 29th.
Cleveland has the size to deal with rookie Jalen Duren down low for Detroit, and I do think this game has blowout potential considering the Cavs beat the Pistons by 24 earlier this season when Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland both didn’t play.
The Pistons have dropped back-to-back games by double-digits, and I wouldn’t be shocked if Cleveland continues its strong play at home on Wednesday night.
