Cavaliers vs. Wizards prediction and odds for Monday, February 6

The Cleveland Cavaliers got a win over the Pacers in Indiana yesterday and then had to jet off to the nation’s capital for a matchup with the Washington Wizards tonight. Washington is coming off of back-to-back losses and has serious question marks around their perimeter defense at the moment. This could be the perfect spot for Donovan Mitchell to have the big game that’s eluded him the past couple of weeks.
The Wizards are 24-28 coming in and the Cavs are 33-22, in fifth place in the Eastern Conference. Let’s look at the odds for this one.

Good news for Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland because the Washington Wizards have been letting opposing guards go off. Washington has lost its last two games to Portland and Brooklyn. Against Portland, Damian Lillard and Anfernee Simons combined for 62 points in the Blazers’ 124-116 win. Then Cam Thomas dropped 44 on the Wizards and Edmond Sumner had 29 in the Nets’ 125-123 win. Mitchell and Garland might be the best backcourt duo that the Wizards will face and they’ll be able to run wild in DC.
The worry for the Cavs is playing in the second night of a back-to-back with both games on the road. This feels like it could be somewhat of a schedule loss for Cleveland. The Wizards had Sunday off and are only small underdogs at home. Plus Cleveland is 11-16 on the road this year.
Washington will be without Kyle Kuzma and Bradley Beal is questionable, so even with a rest disadvantage and a bad road record, I like the Cavs in this one. Washington won’t have the firepower to keep up with Mitchell and Garland, especially if Kristaps Porzinigis has to be their offensive catalyst. He’ll be locked up by Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen down low.
