#3: TyTy Washington Jr.

Playing for a really good Kentucky team this season, Washington averaged 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per night. The Cavs desperately need a backup point guard next season, as their only point guard on the roster going into next season is Darius Garland, and there’s no way he will be able to play all 48 minutes.

Brandon Goodwin was a solid backup point guard, but if Cleveland really wants to be a contender, they will want a better backup than Goodwin, who was on a two-way deal this season. Rajon Rondo was fairly viable as well, but he is already 36 and is not getting any younger, and will likely retire soon.

Cleveland just needs a serviceable backup point guard, and Washington definitely fits that mold. The Cavs don’t need a superstar at point guard, as they already have Kevin Love, Caris LeVert, maybe Collin Sexton, and others off the bench to help the scoring load. The Cavaliers just need a point guard to be able to facilitate, and that would be what Washington’s role would be. Is this the best player Cleveland can select? Maybe, but I do believe he is the best player in terms of fit that Cleveland can realistically select.

There are many different options that the front office can take during the 2022 NBA Draft, and I believe they know what they’re doing. Chances are, I do not see them moving up or down the draft, I think they’ll draft someone with the intention of making them a solid bench piece.

That’s if the team ends up selecting their, in that sense.
