Examining potential second round targets to consider

During the second round of this NBA draft, the Cavaliers have two picks available as of now, the 39th and 58th. The second round of this draft is still talented, so Cleveland should be able to grab a quality NBA player in this round, with either pick. I will go through two players, one for each pick, that Cleveland can take.

39th – JD Davison

According to ESPN, Davison was the 15th-ranked 2021 recruit, meaning the talent is there. However, he did not play as much as some expected at Alabama. Davison may go as high as the 20’s of the first round, all the way down to 45, it just depends on how teams see him. Personally, I think Cleveland should take a swing on Davison.

A backup point guard is what Cleveland needs as of now, as Rajon Rondo is not getting any younger, Brandon Goodwin should not really play any more than 15 minutes per night, if he were to come back, and Caris LeVert should not be handling the point guard duties for multiple possessions at a time.

58th – Oscar Tshiebwe

Cleveland might not be able to select Tshiebwe here, but if they do, it will be a steal. Cleveland needs rebounding help. Cleveland’s opponents averaged 10.5 offensive rebounds whenever they faced the Cavs, which makes the Cavs one of the worst teams in that regard, at 20th.

Tshiebwe is a menace on the glass, averaging 15.2 rebounds per game in his junior season at Kentucky. Also, he averaged 1.6 blocks per game as well, which makes him someone to look out for in the paint.
