Cavs bold prediction #3: The team makes the postseason as a top 6 seed in the Eastern Conference

The Eastern Conference has experienced somewhat of a transformation in recent years from the clear cut “weaker” half of the NBA to nearly toe-to-toe with the West. This is due in large part to to some emerging stars throughout the conference such as Trae Young, Pascal Siakam, and Julius Randle as well as veteran superstars like Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden moving from the West to the East.

The Cavaliers will certainly have their work cut out for them as they try and advance from a record of 22-50, which was good for 13th place, to the 10th send or above to at least make the play-in tournament. The team in that 10th spot, the Charlotte Hornets, won 33 games this past season. That’s a difference of only 11 games and is certainly within reach of the Cavs.

A motivated Sexton, a Darius Garland fresh off an Olympics stint, an Okoro dripping with potential, a newly re-signed Jarrett Allen, and perhaps most of all the incoming 3rd overall pick will be enough to get this team into the postseason. If the Cavs play their cards right, a jump similar to this year’s Atlanta Hawks squad is within the realm of possibility.

I predict the Cavs to win somewhere around 40 games this season.

dark. Next. The Cavs trading Sexton would be a mistake

Yes, I know that is an extremely bold prediction for a team that just finished in the lottery for the third straight season, but if this past season has taught us anything, it’s that anything is possible.
