Cavs: 3 2021 draft prospects who would complement CLE’s young core

Scottie Barnes could be another key addition to the Cavs’ young core
Scottie Barnes’ play style would be one that would bring even more excitement to the Cavaliers and would be a great pick if the team looks to part ways with Kevin Love pretty soon via trade, perhaps before next season. Standing at 6-foot-9 and 227 pounds with playmaking abilities, Barnes has shown the ability to play all five positions.
Interestingly enough, the Florida State Seminoles have been playing Barnes at guard this season and it has been intriguing to watch. In seven games played, Barnes is averaging 11.1 points on 47.2 percent shooting, to go with 4.3 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game.
Barnes is a runner and in transition, he is lethal. His combination of size, speed, power and athleticism is what really stands out for him. Offensively, he’d serve as a secondary playmaker for the Cavaliers, has the makings of a lob threat, and can step out and hit the three-point shot.
Defensively, his quick hands and feet can help him guard multiple positions. Looking even closer, this quickness helps him stay in front of guard/wing players while his frame can help him alter shots/contest against bigger forwards/some centers.
Scottie’s game is still far from reaching his peak but with the Cavaliers’ current construction, it gives him a good shot to reach said peak if they were to select him in the 2021 NBA Draft.
A head coach like J.B. Bickerstaff could get creative with a player of Scottie’s play type and he could make for a really nice transition from the Kevin Love Era, assuming he plays the power forward position in the NBA.
