The first way Love can help Edwards if he’s drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers: The pick-and(mostly)-pop game

The first way that Kevin Love can help Anthony Edwards develop through his rookie year is to be a reliable pick-and-pop partner for the young guard. If Love can do this for Edwards, who had 19.1 points per game in his lone collegiate season at Georgia, it would benefit both players.

In terms of helping Edwards, it would match him up against bigger defenders who would have little-to-chance in keeping up with him as he drives to the basket. It would also allow him to get in-game attempts reading a defense in the scenario of a ball screen.

This pick-and-pop duo would benefit Love in multitude of ways as well. For starters, it would allow him to keep bettering his outside shooting and perimeter game, of which he hit 37.4 percent of his three-point shots in 2019-20 on a career-high 7.0 attempts per outing.

This will be a facet of his game that he will want almost perfected if he finally gets his wish of being traded to a contender that is reportedly what Love wants to do if the scenario were to arise and the Cavs were to be able to find a deal of their liking.

Plus, it’d match Love up against a much smaller defender that he can either simply shoot over from feasibly beyond the three-point line or look to playmake against with little resistance if the look is not there initially.

Now we’ll move on to the second way Love can help Edwards if the latter is selected by the Cavaliers in the 2020 NBA Draft.
