#2: Collin Sexton

Second-year guard Collin Sexton is largely still finding his place in the NBA, but the Cleveland Cavaliers still likely have high hopes that he will develop into an All-Star-level player, with how well he closed his rookie year.

He comes off a unique, yet strong season in which he played all 82 games (per Sports Reference) for a Cavaliers team that was dealt injury bugs to numerous key players in Kevin Love, Tristan Thompson, and Nance Jr.

Sexton showcased flashes of solid play throughout the season that led to one of the better Cavalier rookie seasons in recent memory and as such, enters his second season with high expectations on what will very likely be another bad Cleveland Cavaliers team (Cleveland finished last season 19-63).

Beilein brings a wave of interesting expectations for Collin, as Beilein’s offense tends to thrive with both playmaking and shot-creating guards leading them. Collin must still improve on his passing, but he enters his second season coming off a rookie season that saw him finding a lot of success playing off-ball.

That success will likely be attempted to be replicated and even improved upon this upcoming season as he plays alongside other dynamic playmaking guards. He will likely benefit and get many easy scoring opportunities playing alongside Garland, who has great playmaking instincts, in the 2019-20 season when the two do finally see the court together this season.

This, along with Beilein’s new system for Cleveland, should allow Collin to showcase his overall scoring ability and his capability to utilize his speed and quickness to cut to the basket and get easy opportunities.

Collin displayed a surprisingly solid shooting touch as well this past season, as evidenced by him shooting 40.2% from three-point range in 2018-19 (and he looked good shooting overall in preseason, too) and his shooting, particularly from deep, has allowed his game to be opened up in all phases at a consistent level scoring-wise.

If and assuming this continues, it is fair to assume Collin Sexton will very likely, and easily, be one of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ three best all-around scorers, and cutters as well.
