Tristan Thompson ties Brad Daugherty for games played as a Cav

One of the few good things to take away from Friday’s blowout loss was watching Tristan Thompson move up the Cavaliers history books. The 27-year-old was able to tie Brad Daugherty for ninth-most games played in a Cleveland Cavaliers uniform.

Since being drafted fourth overall in the 2011 NBA Draft, Thompson has been a workhorse for the Wine and Gold.

The scrappy big man strung together 447 consecutive games played to begin his NBA career, holding the active streak until January of 2017. The Texas product missed a few games with a sprained thumb but was right back in action following the recovery process.

Right now, the fact that Tristan has appeared in 548 games (per Basketball Reference) for the Cleveland Cavaliers organization may get overlooked because of the gloom-and-doom feeling the team is radiating as probably the worst NBA team.

But in due time, fans will look back and be grateful for the dedication that Thompson has shown Northeast Ohio. This season in the beginning of his second rebuild in Cleveland, Thompson is having a career year with 11.9 points, 11.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.

Hopefully, he’s appreciated before his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers comes to an end.
