Balancing The Roster

In addition, the depth at all positions will be set.

Trading for Noel would give the Cavaliers great depth at center between he, Thompson, and Chris Andersen. If the Cavaliers want Landry, the power forward position has the same type of depth between Love, Frye, and himself.

Though McRae is a great prospect for the Cavaliers, they see him playing in an ill-fitting role with a veteran and rookie sensation behind him at point guard. At shooting guard, McRae would have to battle for minutes with trusted veterans. By trading McRae, other talented and better-fitting players will be in the rotation.

In trading Shumpert, too, the Cavaliers open up their roster possibilities. They have a better version of Shumpert in DeAndre Liggins already. If the Cavaliers retain J.R. Smith, they can make Mike Dunleavy Jr. his backup and have Liggins come in as the athletic defensive stopper.

At point guard, Kyrie Irving will be backed up by Mo Williams, who will be fending off the talented rookie Kay Felder.

At small forward, LeBron James can be backed up by Richard Jefferson and James Jones, two intelligent veterans that the King respects.
