In what will forever go down as one of, if not the best playoff performance of all time, LeBron James’ classic 45 point, 15 rebound, 5 assist night in an elimination game 6 in Boston was soured just a little bit for me following the actions of one disgraceful fan.

As James triumphantly walked off the court, to a deathly quiet Boston Garden, a fan threw a beer through a protective cover leading to the Heat’s locker room, showering LeBron in the liquid.

Professional athletes, particularly basketballers, will tell you that silencing a raucous away crowd is more fun than sending their home crowd into raptures, and LeBron James put that arena into a volume that was quieter than Marlee Matlin.

Boston Celtics fans are commonly known as loyal, passionate and knowledgable fans, and are considered one of the best fandom cities in America.

Yet when James left the court, the fans who supposedly know and recognise history when they see it, offered boos, jeers and worst of all, beer.

Yes this is probably a petty argument and nothing really worth bringing up, but I just expected more from a fan base that I personally respect, regardless of my hatred towards them and their teams.

The boos and jeers I can live with, although I’d have to think that most other arenas in the country would have respected the once in a lifetime performance he offered and at least given him a few half hearted claps, but for someone to have the animosity to throw a beer at him is just a down right disgrace.

Whoever you are, and I hope you are reading this, however unlikely that may be, you do not deserve to be in the same state as LeBron James, let alone within throwing distance. You are no fan, and I daresay the Boston Celtics organisation wants absolutely nothing to do with you given your scumminess.

Colin Cowherd also called the guy out yesterday, saying he would donate $1000 of his own money to the charity of choice of the person who could tell him the name of the fan. He wanted to publicly call him out and largely do what I am doing now.

You disgraced a national icon. You disgraced the greatest performance of his career and the greatest performance you will see in your lifetime.

I hope you lay awake at night and if not, I hope your insignificance haunts your dreams.

Real fans respect what they saw. They give it the credit they deserve.

When Doc Rivers took his stars out at the end of game 7 on Saturday night, the Miami crowd rose and gave them the applause they deserved. Say what you will about Heat fans, but they are as classy as any fans in any sport in the country, and they gave the Celtics exactly what they had coming to them. Respect.

This even after the classless Celtics fans booed and threw things at the greatest performance they will see in their lives.

Call me petty, I don’t care.

That isn’t right.

Enjoy your fishing trip Boston.

The Heat surprisingly surrendered home court advantage to the Pacers in game 2, failing to make the crucial plays down the stretch. LeBron James and Dwyane Wade were most at fault for Miami’s late game failures, but the role players were completely to blame for letting the Heat get into the situation they found themselves in.

Mario Chalmers and Shane Battier co-led the complimenting players for points…with 5. Productivity like that is going to see the Heat go home early, regardless of whatever James and Wade muster.

The easiest thing for media and fans to say, and I too have been guilty of this, is that James, and to a lesser extent Wade, are in control of how far Miami do go. After game 2 I reassessed that. James could record a 40 point triple double, but if the rest of the team are scoring 5 points or less, it is going to be that much easier to defend him and his partner in crime.

The Heat have done a good job finding and surrounding their wing stars with some of the finer three point shooters in the league. But if Chalmers, Battier, Miller and Jones are contributing nothing, that means the opponents are able to stack the paint, double team James and Wade and virtually render the Heat unable to do anything on the offensive end.

People say ‘oh with the Heat’s talent they should be able to win easily every year’. Didn’t we all believe that when it first was put together. Then how quickly we all realised that you can have as much talent as you want through 2 or 3 positions, but if you can’t find contributions from at leads an 8 man rotation, you are not going to win the championship. The much deeper Dallas defeated Miami in the Finals largely because of this reason.

The Oklahoma City Thunder, like the Heat, have three players that are the obvious keys for their team and generate the majority of their scoring. But unlike the Heat, Oklahoma City have players like Ibaka, Collison, Mohammed, Fisher, Sefolusha and Cook that all can give them around 5 points per night. Add 30 points to the 70 that Durant, Westbrook and Harden give every night and you have 100 and a great chance of winning.

The Heat technically should get the same production out of their supporting cast, players like Haslem, Battier, Miller, Chalmers and Jones (when he gets minutes), but Battier and Haslem conveniently are having the worst offensive seasons of their careers, Mike Miller cannot shrug off the injuries plaguing his Heat career and Chalmers is well…Mario Chalmers.

Battier has openly admitted he is getting more open looks than he ever has in his career. Playing with Wade and James will do that. The same goes for Chalmers, Miller, Jones and Haslem. For whatever reason they are not knocking them down.

It’s time to take some of the blame away from James and Wade and put it on the lesser known. They can’t do it on their own.

This is beginning to look like Cleveland again.
