Ben Gordon has been in the rumor mill lately, and the Charlotte Bobcats are more determined than ever to get rid of Gordon, who seems to be forcing the issue.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Gordon initiated an incident during Bobcats practice on Monday:

As Dunlap led the Bobcats in a morning shootaround on Monday before a victory over the Celtics, Gordon refused Dunlap’s request to stop bouncing a ball as the coach spoke, sources said. Before long, Gordon began baiting Dunlap, telling him that he needed to “humble himself,” sources said.

Gordan refused to give the ball to Dunlap, and eventually tossed it toward a ball rack, sources said.

Wojnarowski also says that the front office of the Bobcats have not suspended Gordon, despite his detrimental behaviour, as that would quite likely tarnish the already limited trade value that he has.

If the reports are correct, this kind of behaviour seems highly inappropriate and immature. For a 29-year-old veteran to act this way is not only disrespectful to the head coach, but the whole organization.

The Brooklyn Nets have entertained the notion of making a Kris Humphries for Ben Gordon swap, but the team currently has more imminent trade talks going on. With these recent reports, it is unlikely any other team will jump at the opportunity to trade for Gordon, but the Nets could still make the deal happen before the deadline.
