On a radio show Friday, Nets GM Billy King said that Brooklyn Nets’ guard Joe Johnson will miss tonight’s game against the Rockets.

King revealed that earlier in the week Johnson suffered a form of plantar fasciitis.

However, King does not appear to be concerned. “It’s going to be day-to-day. It’s better than it was two days ago. So they’ve got him on medication and I expect it to be much better tomorrow, and then we’ll see where he is Sunday. If it’s still where it’s tender and sore, we may keep him out because this is a marathon we are trying to finish, not a sprint.”

“If this was a playoff game, he’d probably push it.” King added. But with it not being [one], we are going to be a little cautious on it.”

Meanwhile, Johnson’s backcourt mate, Deron Williams has been dealing with inflammation in his ankles all season. On Thursday, Williams received his third set of cortisone shots in both ankles.

Coming into the season, many argued that this would be the best backcourt in the NBA. Williams’s ankle woes have thus far prevented this. Now, the team must handle an injury to the other member of its prominent duo.

The Brooklyn Nets have been on a tough stretch in the absence of the team’s big man Brook Lopez, going 2-5 in the games he missed. Lopez made a return to the court last night, but Joe Johnson stole the show.

In a double-OT thriller in Brooklyn, the Nets managed to outlast the Detroit Pistons after a Joe Johnson buzzer beater.

With 5.8 seconds remaining in the game, Joe Johnson inbounded the ball to Deron Williams, who instantly handed the ball back to Johnson. After a couple of dribbles at the top of the key, Johnson crossed over Tyshaun Prince and hit a stunning stepback jumper at the buzzer.
