Right now, it’s tough to imagine the Cleveland Cavaliers having another era quite like the one we’re all currently witnessing. We need to enjoy this ride before it’s over and done with.

The last few weeks have not exactly been what the Cleveland Cavaliers envisioned as they lost in the 2017 NBA Finals 4-1 to the Golden State Warriors, then shortly after that news broke that general manager David Griffin would not return next season.

On top of that, there has been constant speculation that LeBron James’ time with the Cavaliers could (once again) be nearing an end and the King could be looking to take his talents to the West Coast.

While many choose to look at this situation in a negative way, it should be viewed as just the opposite.

How long have we all wanted the Cavaliers to be the top news story on a daily basis? The leading topic on all the sports talk shows?

Well that’s what’s happening and Cavs nation should embrace it all.

From the Paul George and Carmelo Anthony trade speculation, to the greatest of all-time (GOAT) talk comparing LeBron and Michael Jordan, to the evergreen question of whether Kevin Love will be on his way out, the sports news cycle seems to always be filled with talk of the Cavaliers.

Remember, just a short time ago the Cavaliers were the doormat of the NBA back in the early 2000’s before they captured the No. 1 picked that turned their fortunes around and again after LeBron left in the summer of 2010.

During those dark ages, the Cavaliers were barely talked about outside of Northeast Ohio. Typically, the only time the Wine & Gold made national news and headlines was when they were embarrassed by one of the NBA’s juggernaut or the Cavaliers faced off against LeBron and the Miami Heat.

The main thing to get excited about during that awful stretch of basketball was the NBA Draft Lottery and the NBA Draft.

Granted, those were exciting times for the fan base. Nonetheless, they pale in comparison to the Cavaliers accomplishments over the last few seasons.

We’re in the middle of the greatest era of Cleveland basketball and that’s something that needs to be celebrated.

The best player in NBA is on our team and, at 32-years-old, is somehow still in his prime. Peaking even. We’ve witnessed three consecutive trips to the NBA Finals and the city’s first championship in 52 years.

Life as a Cavs fan is not too bad.

If all goes according to plan next season, the Cavs will take part in their fourth consecutive NBA Finals, something that was unimaginable just a few short years ago. In life, we never know what to expect, that is what makes this journey in particular so interesting and unforgettable.

The journey is what brings fans to tears when their teams wins a championship, it’s what keeps the fans invested year after year. The unknown; the hoping and wondering if this year is “the year.”

Take a moment to realize what the 28 other teams and their fans are going through right now. They’re basically an afterthought.

Your team is one of two that is at the top of the league right now, that in itself is quite incredible.

When are teams from a smaller market such as Cleveland consistently at the top of any professional sports league?

What we’re witnessing is the Golden Age of the Cleveland Cavaliers. This will be talked about for generations to come.

Enjoy this ride while it still lasts because before we all know it, the good ol’ days will be a thing of the past and all we’ll have left are the memories of the greatest era of Cavs basketball.
