For today’s Cleveland Cavaliers Flashback Friday, we look ahead to tomorrow’s matchup with the Washington Wizards.

I don’t mean to gloss over tonight’s game with the Charlotte Hornets and Kemba Walker, but the Cleveland Cavaliers have a bigger contest tomorrow with the Wiz. In the last meeting between these two clubs, it was a heavy battle that saw the Cavs escape with a 140-135 overtime victory on the road. This was likely the best NBA game of the season to date, as it took heroics from LeBron and Kyrie down the stretch to come out on top.

Wizards blossoming superstar John Wall hyped this February 6, 2017 game up, initially calling it the “biggest regular season game of his career,” according to Wiz insider J. Michael. The game did not disappoint, either.

It was a tremendous contest between two of the top point guards in the league in Wall and Irving. Neither were particularly efficient, as they combined to shoot 16 for 43 (according to Basketball Reference), but they both made their share of highlight finishes. It was a great duel with the slashing and nifty dishes from Wall (especially to Otto Porter Jr.), and the customary big-time shooting in crunch time from Uncle Drew.

Kyrie ultimately got the last laugh in this one, as he had 11 points in overtime to pace the Wine and Golders to victory. He made a three from his patented sweet spot over perhaps the game’s brightest star in Bradley Beal (who had 41 points) with 35 ticks left, and the Cavs hung on from there. It wasn’t only Uncle Drew in this one, though.

The Cavs wouldn’t have had a chance be in OT without the play of Bron, K-Love, and Tristan Thompson. The King had 32 points and a career-high 17 dimes in this one; he was his usual amazing self on national television.

Let’s not forget about the famous three off the window to put the game in OT at the end of regulation, either. That was greatness, as he made up for his missed layup on the possession before. Boy did he. Bron’s a BAAAAADDD man.

What was also an added storyline to this time of the season were the swirling K-Love trade rumors. It was the constant back-and-forth. Should they deal him? Should they keep him? Well, thank the high heavens they still have Lil Kev for this year’s playoff run.

He reminded the Cavs organization why he’s so valuable to this ball club in this game, as the Cleveland stretch four poured in 39 big ones and was six-of-ten from three-point land. Along with Kyle Korver (four triples) and Bron (six-for-eight from deep), Love was the key cog in the Cavs shooting 50% from deep.

In addition, ya had to “Love” that he connected on all 11 of his free throws, too. His outlet pass from the opposite baseline to LeBron at the end of regulation was spot on, as well. His passing is reminiscent of old-school big men outlet passes, it’s as if he’s the reincarnation of New York Knicks legend Wes Unseld on those or something. Once again, thanks for the clips, FreeDawkins.

Last but not least, Double T was crucial to a Cavs W. He had 22 points on 10-of-13 from the field, to go along with 12 rebounds (six on the offensive end).

His tenacity on both ends of the glass were huge, as usual. The Wiz had no answer for him in Double T getting those key extra possessions. He and K-Love combined for 24 boards all together.

With both teams near or at the top of the Eastern Conference standings, this matchup should be another great one. Hopefully the Cavs don’t need another bank at the end of regulation, though. We shall see. Oh and happy belated birthday, Uncle Drew #MoreLife.
