The Cleveland Cavaliers have had the exciting privilege to potentially acquire both Andrew Bogut and Deron Williams after the NBA trade deadline.

Andrew Bogut is exactly what the Cleveland Cavaliers needed. They needed a defending, rim-protecting big man to man the middle when Tristan Thompson is not in the game. Chris Andersen did fill that role until he went down with an ACL injury.

MUST READ: Expectations for the Cavaliers after the ASG

Andrew Bogut has not been what the Dallas Mavericks expected he would be this season. In his 22.4 minutes per game, he averaged just 3.0 points and 8.3 rebounds. While the rebounds were expected, the points has been the worst average of his career. Remember, this is the guy who once averaged 15.9 points and 10.2 rebounds per game for the Bucks.

Dallas signed Bogut for an extravagant $11 million contract. With players like Dwight Powell and A.J. Hammons along with the newly acquired Nerlens Noel, it would have been pointless to keep Bogut, who was actually dealt to Philadelphia. It is also important to note that the signing of Harrison Barnes was suppose to give the Mavericks a solid team which eventually turned into turmoil.

The Philadelphia 76ers are in talks to release the 7-foot big man, and according to ESPN’s Tim MacHahon, he could sign in Cleveland-

With Bogut’s potential buyout and signing with Cleveland, it is interesting to estimate how much of a role coach Lue will give him, and the side effects that it could have.
