Canton Charge fall to Delaware 87ers; Quinn Cook gets call up

The Canton Charge, who lost to the Delaware 87ers a couple nights before couldn’t get the job done as the Charge fall to the 87ers 117-110. However, the game wasn’t the only big thing happening for the Canton Charge.

The Dallas Mavericks, according to Chris Reichert of The Step Back, reported minutes before the game, Quinn Cook will sign a 10-day contract with the Mavs, Reichert citing league sources. Marc Stein of ESPN, also reported after the game the Mavs plan to sign Cook before Mavs Sunday practice.

Cook was inactive for tonight’s game. The team said it was a rest game for him.

As someone who has covered the Charge now for this season and been in connection with the team for a year now, it was an honor to cover a class act, humble guy Quinn Cook.

Cook on Saturday also was named NBA D-League All-Star MVP. Cook was also the D-League rookie of the year last season as well. Cook is one hell of a player and I am happy for him and so is Charge nation on him finally getting a call up to the NBA. I’ve interviewed him numerous of times and Dallas — You are getting not only a class act and humble guy, but a hell of a player who has been the star and face of the Charge now about two years in.

Back to the game, the Canton Charge led early 14-4 in the first quarter. The team had energy and Kay Felder of the Cleveland Cavaliers played pretty well early.  The Charge in the end, despite shooting 50% for the game, fall to Nate Robinson and the 87ers 117-110.

Nate Robinson, yes that Nate Robinson, former three-time NBA Dunk Champion. Robinson had 12 points (4/14 FG), 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 block for Delaware. Robinson made his debut earlier this month for the 87ers.

On the Charge side, they have to be concern as Roosevelt Jones left the game in the third quarter after falling hard. The team called it a left oblique strain and was questionable to return, but he did not return.

Kay Felder is your player of the game who led the Charge with 32 points. Felder also added in 6 assists and 4 rebounds. John Holland was next in line with 28 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal.
