The Cleveland Cavaliers are the best team in the league, until proven otherwise. Tyronn Lue is as big a reason for that as the Big Three themselves.

When Tyronn Lue took over as head coach last January, there wasn’t any evidence that he could succeed. He was one of the most sought after assistant coaches while he coached alongside Doc Rivers and was the highest-paid assistant coach in NBA history with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Yet, even a number one overall pick is still a rookie who has to prove that he can be elite. Lue, who had no head coaching experience, was that rookie.

Not a man who wants the glitz and glamour of the job but rather just the work of it and the camaraderie of the players, perhaps, Lue has done a masterful job in his first full season as a head coach; he’s shown why management saw fit to give him the keys to the Ferrari. While it’s widely recognized that Kevin Love is playing the best basketball of his career, what’s not recognized is that the entire Big Three is playing the best basketball of his career. Tristan Thompson and Iman Shumpert are playing the best they’ve ever played as well.

Needless to say, the Cavs have had a lot of success under Lue.

Nonetheless, every successful construction has a blueprint. What’s Lue’s blueprint for his success with the Cleveland Cavaliers?
