Andrew Wiggins doesn’t get the credit he deserves and it’s very unfortunate. I think Cleveland Cavaliers’ fans take for granted what he brought to the team.

Drafted on June 26, 2014. Signed on July 24, 2014. Traded on Aug. 23rd, 2014.

Andrew Wiggins‘ career in Cleveland was short. Way too short. It seemed like just yesterday the 6-foot-8 guard from the University of Kansas walked across the stage in Brooklyn after hearing his name called first overall in the 2014 NBA Draft.

He and Kyrie Irving were set to be the faces of the Cleveland Cavaliers for years to come. The young duo were supposed to lead the Cavs back into playoff contention. Andrew Wiggins and Kyrie Irving were going to be the next saviors of Cleveland.  They were going to bring the Cavaliers their first championship ever.

Well at least that was plan. And as we all know the plan changed.

LeBron James came home. Wiggins and another 1st overall pick, whose name should never be mentioned (Anthony Bennett), were traded for Kevin Love.

David Griffin got Phil Jackson to trade Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith for basically a pair of those all white Curry 2 Lows. The Cavaliers lost to the Warriors in the 2014-2015 Finals. Richard Jefferson chooses the Cavs over the Mavs.

David Blatt fired. Tyronn Lue took over. Channing Frye happened. Richard Jefferson joined snapchat. Cavs stayed healthy. The Cup Check. The Block. The Shot. The Stop. The Warriors blow a 3-1 Finals lead. The Cleveland Cavaliers won the 2015-2016 NBA Championship.

That was an extremely condensed recap of what transpired over the past two seasons, but we know the story by now.

More from King James Gospel

Mr. Andrew Wiggins doesn’t get the credit he deserves and it’s very unfortunate. Cavaliers’ fans take for granted what he gave them. Take a look above. That’s what he brought the Cavs. Without him none of this happens. Yeah sure, one could argue that LeBron’s homecoming or Richard Jefferson joining snapchat were extremely important factors to this team’s success, but Wiggins was the first piece to the puzzle.

Since Wiggins brought us so much without actually doing anything, it was only right to honor his Cavaliers’ career. His career may have been short, but boy was it crucial. If anything, the front office should give Wiggins a ring for everything he did for the organization. He deserves a ring more than David Blatt, Anderson Varejao or even Sasha Kaun. It’s not right to disrespect NBA Champion Sasha Kaun like that, but everyone reading this was more productive than he was last season.

Anyway without further adieu, here is the official tribute video for the one and only Andrew Wiggins.

Enjoy.
