Cavs Lineup Options Exciting
The Cleveland Cavaliers have their entire roster healthy. The lineup options for the Cavs are exciting.
With Iman Shumpert and Kyrie Irving returning for the first time this season last week and Mo Williams coming back from his thumb injury, the Cavs are whole.
Not only are they whole, they are very talented and deep. The Cavs have options that would excite most teams as starters, or at least Top 6-7 men in their rotation. They have that talent up and down the roster.
What excites the most, something lacking last year in the NBA Finals, is the team’s ability to roll out a number of different lineups depending on what they need. The roster is even better than the full roster from last season.
After the major trades last year, the Cavs still had Brendan Haywood, Kendrick Perkins, the ghost of Shawn Marion, Joe Harris and the skeleton of Mike Miller at the end of their bench. This year those spots are filled by Sasha Kaun, Anderson Varejao, Richard Jefferson, Harris (in Canton) and Mo Williams.
The hope is that Kaun and Varejao can produce when needed in the frontcourt, Jefferson has been head and shoulders above what Marion did and Williams is a solid starter level PG.
The roster and lineups are stacked:
The All Offensive Lineup
The Cavs can put out an offensive lineup that should scare any team.
PG – Kyrie Irving
SG – Williams
SF – J.R. Smith
PF – LeBron James
C – Kevin Love
The amount of shooting and ability to create is astounding with this lineup. The Cavs are not likely to put this one out that often, they only need 3 or 4 offensive stars per lineup, but when they do they would destroy folks.
The All Defense Lineup
For the Cavs, their all defense lineup is their NBA Finals lineup. A group that can defend at a high level at every position.
PG – Matthew Dellavedova
SG – Iman Shumpert
SF – LeBron
PF – Tristan Thompson
C – Timofey Mozgov
The Big Lineup
PG – Delly
SG – Richard Jefferson
SF – LeBron
PF – Tristan Thompson
C – Timofey Mozgov
Warriors Lineup
The Cavs small ball lineup has to be setup to fight the Warriors. The Warriors lineup of death is always scary but the Cavs can matchup blow for blow with it.
PG – Kyrie
SG – Williams
SF – Shumpert
PF – LeBron
C – Tristan
The “Second” Unit
While the Cavs second unit will rarely, if ever, play together as a whole, they are solid. The second unit has players who can make a difference and keep the Cavs in the lead when in.
PG – Williams
SG – J.R.
SF – Jefferson
PF – Tristan
C – Anderson Varejao
