Witnessing Greatness: LeBron Inches Closer to All-Time Greats

There were no records broken by LeBron James last week (that I know of) but he is about to pass some all-time greats in career numbers. From Mark Jackson to Terry Porter, Clyde Lovelette, Reggie Theus, and the great Michael Jordan, LeBron will be quite busy moving past these legends of the hardwood in the next two weeks.

…LeBron continued his league-leading fourth-quarter-scoring exploits for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Last week (and parts of this week), LeBron continued his league-leading fourth-quarter-scoring exploits for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Against the New Orleans Pelicans, James scored 23 points in the fourth to rally the Cavs back into the game.

The team lost in overtime, however, but not until the King recorded his most points in a quarter since his return to Cleveland last season. It’s also James most fourth-quarter points since he had 24 in a game against the Toronto Raptors back in January 6, 2008 as per Elias.

Thankfully LeBron wasn’t needed in the 4th quarter of the Cavs dominating win over the Orlando Magic.

As for his climb up the all-time career stats, here are LeBron’s career numbers and the all-time greats he’ll pass along the way.

More from King James Gospel

  • Steals – Terry Porter is in 30th place with 1,583 while James is at 31st with 1,579. Had LeBron not been in a steals slump lately, he would have passed Porter sometime last week.
  • Rebounds – Clyde Lovelette (6,663) and Michael Jordan (6,672) are at 121st and 120th place, respectively and James (6,660) will most likely pass Lovelette in the next game and Jordan in the game after that. The King is averaging 7.9 rebounds a game this season.
  • Assists – Reggie Theus occupies the 24th spot with 6,453 assists but James (6,428) will move ahead of him in about four games based on his 6.4 assists per game average.
  • Turnovers – Mark Jackson (3,155) is in 20th place in a category that no one wants to be in and James (3,136) is about to pass him in about seven to eight games with his 3.5 TOs average. Though LeBron will be in the top 20 in this category, he’s in great company with many all-time greats such as John Stockton, Magic Johnson, Tim Duncan, and Kobe Bryant among many others in the list.

Watch out in the next few games as the Chosen One is set to rack up more career statistical milestones. I’ll fill you in on all of them when that time comes. Keep following me through WITNESSing Greatness as I continue to chronicle King James’ career accomplishments for you this season.
