Cavs Vs Bulls: Starters Announced

The Cleveland Cavaliers take on the Chicago Bulls on the road tonight. The Cavs and Bulls faced off in the NBA Playoffs last year and may be the two best teams in the Eastern Conference. President Obama will be in the house tonight and most of the nation will be focused on the game.

With Opening Night starts in about 30 minutes. Since it is such a monumental night, we want to cover all the details. Such as the announced starters for Cavs Vs Bulls:

Cavs

PG: Mo Williams – With Kyrie Irving out, Williams was expected to get the start. Williams came over as a free agent and should be a better offensive option than Matthew Dellavedova. Defensively it will be interesting who guards Derrick Rose.

SG: J.R. Smith – With Iman Shumpert out, Smith was expected to get the start. (Yep, there is a pattern there.) Smith was great for the Cavs last year but struggles a bit when he tries to do too much. Knowing his role in the offense is important for Swish.

SF: LeBron James – Yeah, he is good. How much he plays is the interesting subject after having his back dealt with in preseason.

PF: Kevin Love – Love returned in preseason and looked good. He will possibly have limited minutes as well tonight but is a vital cog for the Cavs offense, especially without Irving.

C: Timofey Mozgov – Timo hasn’t looked great in preseason. His knee has been bothering him and he has seemed out of shape often. The Cavs will need his strong defensive presence on the court against the Bulls.

Bulls

PG: Derrick Rose – Rose reportedly has been having blurry vision after his facial injury. Still very explosive, Rose has been very injury prone. He is likely to have very limited minutes tonight but will be a tough matchup for Mo.

SG: Jimmy Butler – Butler had his coming out party last year and is a great player. He can play the 2 or the 3 and has developed an offensive game to go with his strong defense. He is the Bulls best player.

SF: Tony Snell – Snell is a lanky defensive player who LeBron will try to body as much as possible. That will likely force Butler into guarding James, pulling away his energy for the offensive end.

PF: Nikola Mirotic – In a bit of surprise, Mirotic is in the starting lineup. This fits new HC Fred Hoiberg‘s desire for spacing but Mirotic struggles on defense but is an offensive weapon.

C: Pau Gasol – Mainstay Joakim Noah will be coming off the bench. Gasol is aging but still very talented. Neither big can protect the rim or the paint in general. Noah can but has had his injury issues that has limited him.
