Will Chicago Bulls Catch Cleveland Cavaliers for No. 2 Seed In East?
By Josh Hill
The Chicago Bulls are hoping to leap frog the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference, but what are the chances of that happening?
A week ago, it appeared that the Cleveland Cavaliers might be in a situation where they can catch the Atlanta Hawks for the N0. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. That all ended when the Hawks decided to stop losing and start winning again, and ended up locking down that top seed in the East, but now the Cavaliers need to start watching their back.

The Cleveland Cavaliers barely beat the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday afternoon and even though they won it felt like a loss. What makes it feel like even more of a loss is the fact that the Chicago Bulls are still just two-and-a-half games behind the Cavaliers for the No. 2 seed in the East and the Central Division title.
Both Cleveland Chicago play each other on Sunday at The Q, and it’s a game that could end up changing the playoff race in a big way. Both teams have one game before that Sunday showdown and it’s very possible, given how the Heat have had the Cavs number this season, that Sunday puts more on the line than we ever thought.
If the Cavaliers lose to the Heat and the Bulls top the Bucks — very possible scenarios — then Sunday would see Chicago just one-and-a-half games out. A win by the Bulls in that game would put them just a half game behind the Cavaliers for the lead in the Central and control of the No. 2 seed.
There is no way that the Cavaliers can afford to go into chill mode the final stretch of the season because they haven’t won a single thing this season. They have a payoff berth clinched, but they don’t have homecourt clinched, they haven’t won the division and they can still slip down the playoff seedings before the season ends.
Chicago would love nothing more than catch the Cavaliers and overtake them for the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. They have battled injuries all season long, they don’ have Derrick Rose and to still snag that No. 2 seed would be huge for the Bulls
Cleveland controls their own destiny and the No. 2 seed in the East is theirs to lose. But they can still lose it, and that’s a fat that can’t be glossed over as the hunt for playoff positioning nears it’s most critical phase of the season.
