The Cleveland Cavaliers aren’t a perfect team, and I’m saying that out of love and not as a Bulls fan (don’t throw your stones too hard, please). While they’re an excellent squad and the favorites to come out of the east, they have a giant weakness that it will take an actual giant to fill.
With all the veteran help and Kevin Love trading, the Cavaliers have failed to address the very dire need for backup center and height in the frontcourt. Right now the Cavs have a scoring frontcourt in Kevin Love and LeBron James but Anderson Varejao is on an island thanks to there being no credible depth under him.
Kevin Pelton of ESPN.com underrstands that Timpfey Mozgov fills a need for Cleveland, but he could see the Cavaliers pulling off a different deal that lands them an equally as interesting player.
I still haven’t seen someone explain why the Nuggets would do that trade. So until then, no.
If the Cavaliers and Nuggets make a trade, my money is on JaVale McGee for Brendan Haywood’s instant expiring next summer.
McGee is a giant, no doubt, but he’s also a giant question mark. He’s been to slam dunk contests, had his chance to become a star in the NBA but never grabbed hold. In Cleveland, he could play a potentially pivotal role in making sure the Cavaliers defense is stout and it could be his chance to finally pop as a star talent in the NBA.
