The Cleveland Cavaliers need to add some center depth as their lack of a rim protector has many thinking they could have already exposed an Achilles heel to the rest of the NBA.
That’s why it’s of no surprise that a report surfaced this week claiming that the Cavaliers have been trying to acquire Timofey Mozgov from the Denver Nuggets. Mozgov told Boris Khodorovsky of ITAR-TASS, as translated by Alexander Chernykh of Rush’n Hoops, that he’s at least intrigued by the idea of joining the Cavaliers and wouldn’t mind playing with LeBron James.
“Of course, it would be interesting to play for David Blatt’s team. I know his coaching philosophy well, after working with him on Russian national team. The thing you like about Blatt is that he always sets the highest goals for himself and for the team.”
Mozgov is also interested in playing with James.
“I would like to play with LeBron,” Mozgov said. “But even though playing for a contender is cool, you got to understand that I want to be part of the team and not to just join a contender and ride the coattails, being a burden.”
Anyone would want to play with LeBron but few fill a dire need like Mozgov does. The Cavaliers are the talk of the NBA right now but they have weakness that will be exploited by the media and the rest of the NBA this season.
