The Cleveland Cavaliers are a team that is hoarding veteran talent in the wake of LeBron James returning to the team but there is one name still out there that hasn’t yet signed but everyone is looking at.
Ray Allen hasn’t decided where he wants to play next season — or if he even if he wants to play at all — and it’s a situation that the Cavaliers are monitoring. But one player on the Cavs won’t be talking to Ray Allen about coming back for a 19th season, is James Jones.
According to Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel, the duo may have gone on a vacation together but there was no talk of recruitment when Allen and Jones were alone together.
Jones said he has stayed in contact with Allen, who also has been linked to the Cavaliers.
“I don’t recruit guys,” Jones said. “That’s one thing I refuse to do. It’s a decision he has to live with, and I can’t promise him a situation would turn out right or would be the best situation. I talk to Ray, but it’s about family, about life, just to see how he is doing.”
Just like Allen and LeBron are close, James Jones is apparently close to Allen as well since their families vacationed together in the Caribbean this summer. But no mention of recruiting was made, as Jones is leaving the decision to return all up to Allen.
