Hasheem Thabeet is set to be traded to and then waived by the Philadelphia 76ers, which is really good news for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
There has been reported interest in Thabeet from the Cavaliers, but they didn’t seem all that interested in trading for him. According to Marc Stein from ESPN, the Philadelphia 76ers are set to waive Thabeet as soon as he’s acquired, meaning that the Cavaliers could scoop him up at the minimum without having to give up assets in the process.
Thabeet, I’m told, is likely to be waived immediately by Sixers after completion of trade

Logic would suggest that the team could make a move on him. Cleveland has a dire need at center when it comes to depth and that’s something that Thabeet can help with. In fact, it’s the very reason he was mentioned with the Cavaliers in the first place and now that he’s being waived by Philly, a door to Cleveland could be opening.
Nothing is certain, but Thabeet makes a lot of sense for the Cavaliers and is worth a shot at the minimum. He fills a need, comes cheap and would be someone that makes the frontcourt in Cleveland even more intriguing entering the season.
