The Cleveland Cavaliers are trying to get the best roster together that they can and that means trying to bring in veteran players who are going to make an immediate impact and help LeBron James win a title in 2014-15 — which is what he expects.
One name that keeps coming up is Ray Allen, but he’s not so sold on playing basketball anymore as he could call it a career after 18 seasons in the NBA. LeBron James being in Cleveland means that the Cavaliers represent the best landing spot for Allen, if he wants to return.
James Jones spent this week talking with Allen, trying to feel him out and recruit him to join the Cavaliers — only if he really wants to though as there seems to not be much pressure being applied.
“We talked about those things that are important to us, which are families, our legacies and our careers,” Jones said. “So he has a decision to make. Of course we’d love to have Ray. Hopefully he makes a decision that’s best for him, and hopefully it’s a decision to continue to play. But as far as where he goes and what he’s thinking, I don’t know.”
Jones, like LeBron, played with Allen in Miami last season and the trio coming to Cleveland makes a ton of sense, if Allen indeed wants to tag along and make things a trio.
