One way that the Cleveland Cavaliers are trying to get a better team is by building a better roster than what they had during LeBron James’ first go-around with the team back in the early to late 2000s.
But while getting a roster full of talent like the Cavs are trying to do is a good move, it’s also something that deserves to be said about the bench and the coaching staff as well. David Blatt is coaching a roster of insane talent but is doing so as a first time NBA head coach.
According to Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe, the Cavaliers are again being rumored to be adding Larry Drew to the coaching staff, which is something that isn’t the worst idea in the world for a newbie NBA head coach like David Blatt is.
It appears that former Bucks coach Larry Drew, fired in controversial fashion last month when Jason Kidd decided to pursue the job, is making progress in joining David Blatt’s staff with the Cavaliers. Drew has ties with Blatt, who contacted him soon after he was fired by Milwaukee.
Finding Blatt the proper help is big in getting him his footing in the NBA, and filling his staff with former head coaching talent and faces he works well with is the right move by the Cavaliers.
