Kevin Love withdraws from Team USA for FIBA World Cup

Team USA will be getting back together this summer to try and win the FIBA World Cup of Basketball but there are a few notable names that won’t be involved and one is directly linked to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

LeBron James has already decided not to play, but Kevin Love is a name that Cavs fans are watching closely and his participation — or lack thereof — could mean more than meets the eye when you look into it.

Just like Blake Griffin a few days ago, Kevin Love has decided that he’d rather not play for Team USA this summer, but the reasons for the two deciding not to play couldn’t be more different.

The reason Love is giving is so that he can prepare to be healthy for the 2014-15 season, but that really means he doesn’t want to get injured and be forced to spend another season in the basketball boneyard of Minnesota.

Love being traded to the Cavaliers is a direct cause for his giving up a potential guaranteed spot on the 2016 Rio Olympic team, so this isn’t a decision anyone should be taking lightly.
