The Cleveland Cavaliers are focused on getting Kevin Love over from the Minnesota Timberwolves at the moment but that doesn’t mean they don’t have eyes on other places and other players whom they’d like to add.
Ray Allen has long been a name that the Cavaliers have considered and having LeBron James in town only seems to make them that much sweeter of a landing spot for the veteran. But while the Cavs have LeBron and a fighting chance at a title, Allen still isn’t sold on playing for anyone in the 2014-15 season.
According to Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders suggests Allen could wait until mid-season to join a team and that the Cavaliers “have as good a shot as anyone.”
I can say what we’ve been told is Ray is done. But I think that’s far from decided officially. I think he is done for now and comes back in December or January. As for Cavs, who knows, people act like he and LeBron are life long friends. I think the Cavs have as good a shot as anyone.
This doesn’t mean that the Cavaliers will be the team that Allen signs for, if he even signs at all with anyone, but it’s hard to not see the Cavs as contenders at the mid-season point and that means Allen will be linked to Cleveland basically all year until he makes a final decision on whether to play or retire.
