The Cleveland Cavaliers landed LeBron James this summer to bring him back home but the work to re-tool the roster in order to make it a winner is far from over. While the pieces are starting to come into place, the Cavaliers for the most part still need one more star to truly be the unstoppable force they can be, and that’s consistently where Kevin Love has come into the conversation.
Andrew Wiggins seems to be tethered to Love though and the Cavaliers have not shown a willingness to include him in any trade talks so far. Despite the rampant rumors, the No. 1 overall pick in the draft doesn’t seem too fazed by the rumors and aren’t letting them bother him.
From Kurt Hellin of Pro Basketball Talk:
“I let my agent and my support system handle that, I just love playing the game of basketball and I know the NBA is a business,” Wiggins said Friday night after his Cavaliers had played their last game in the Las Vegas Summer League.
Is all of this distracting, especially with family and friends asking him about it?
“Not at all,” Wiggins said. “If it’s someone important, family or friends, you kind of tell them what you know. But if it’s not, it’s mostly in one ear and out the other.”
But is he worried?
“No. I just play basketball man wherever I go.”
Wiggins has absolutely no say in where he goes and he’s earned no such right to complain about playing in Cleveland, Minnesota, New York or anywhere. He’s a rookie and he’ll go where he’s told. That doesn’t mean he has to like it, but to let the rumors bother him is pointless as he has no say whatsoever in where he ends up.
