The Sports Illustrated essay that LeBron James wrote to announce he was coming back to the Cleveland Cavaliers has been spoofed and parodied as much as it has been framed and adored by Cavs fans.
James narrated a piece on Sports Illustratedwhere he discussed the importance of that area of Ohio to him, and how it played a role in his return.
“I feel my calling here goes above basketball,” James said. “I have a responsibility to lead, in more ways than one, and I take that very seriously. My presence can make a difference in Miami, but I think it can mean more where I’m from. I want kids in Northeast Ohio, like the hundreds of Akron third-graders I sponsor through my foundation, to realize that there’s no better place to grow up. Maybe some of them will come home after college and start a family or open a business. That would make me smile. Our community, which has struggled so much, needs all the talent it can get.
“I’m ready to accept the challenge. I’m coming home.”
Naturally, this has spawned a spoof of the letter but int he coolest way possible. Skyler Grey, who popularized the song ‘I’m Coming Home’ has had the song remixed to welcome LeBron James back to Cleveland.
