Kyrie Irving named to USA training camp roster

On Monday, USA Basketball Chairman and and National Team Managing Director Jerry Colangelo announced the USA Basketball National Team training camp roster, which features 19 players. All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving was the only member of the Cleveland Cavaliers to be named to the group of players this summer who have the opportunity to play for the 2014 USA World Cup Team. The pre-World Cup training will take place from July 28-August 1 in Las Vegas. The roster will be finalized between August 2-13 and will consist of 12 players per usual.

Kyrie Irving is one of six players on the roster who were part of the of the 2012 USA Select Team that practiced against the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team. The two-time All-Star dominated most of the talks surrounding the USA Select Team, crossing over some of the best players in the game and even challenging Kobe Bryant to a one-on-one game. With Russell Westbrook opting not to compete in the World Cup of Basketball, Kyrie Irving has a very good chance of making the final roster this summer. The World Cup of Basketball for Team USA begins on August 30 with a matchup against Finland.

The rest of the USA Basketball National Team training camp roster includes the following:

Bradley Beal (Washington Wizards)

DeMarcus Cousins (Sacramento Kings)
