The New Orleans Pelicans are going to more than likely play into the LeBron James decision as the web of factors continues to grow in the aftermath of LeBron deciding to return to the Cavaliers.

According to Marc Stein from ESPN.com, the Cavaliers are close to trading Alonzo Gee to the New Orleans Pelicans to clear up as much cap space as possible for LeBron James to sign with the team.

This may cone as a bit of a jolt to Cavs fans, not because Gee is being traded but because he’s being traded to the Pelicans and not the Charlotte Hornets as was reported on draft night. Stein clears this up by saying the deal on draft night and this deal now are separate and Gee is only part of one.

Either way, Gee is a casualty to the greatest day in the history of the Cavaliers and he can take pride in knowing he’s being martyred as a part of something that is going to make fans happier than they’ve ever been.
