Tyronn Lue accepts associate head coach job with Cavs

After news became official that former Macabi Tel Aviv head coach David Blatt would accept the same position with the Cleveland Cavaliers, news of his staff hirings started to come to fruition. Los Angeles Clippers assistant coach Tyronn Lue, who interviewed twice for the Cavaliers head coaching job, is the first coach to join Blatt’s staff. Lue will take the position of associate head coach, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:

Lue, a former NBA player, will bring the first-hand NBA experience to Blatt’s coaching staff and a defensive edge that will help to balance out Blatt’s staff. The Los Angeles Lakers, Lue’s former team when he was in the NBA, are now the only NBA squad without a head coach. Cleveland will take the following days to round out the rest of their staff.
