Report: David Blatt to interview with Cavs on Wednesday

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Cleveland Cavaliers will interview former Maccabi Tel Aviv head coach David Blatt on Wednesday for their vacant head coaching job. Blatt resigned this past week from his post with Maccbai to pursue a job in the NBA. Blatt lead Maccabi to the Euroleague title this past season. He also coached  the Russian National Team, which included Cavs forward Sergey Karasev, at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

According to Wojnarowski, the belief is that unless Cleveland moves quickly to hire Blatt, the Golden State Warriors will offer him a job as an assistant on Steve Kerr’s staff and Blatt will accept. Blatt, 55, played college basketball at Princeton and is one of the most successful European coaches in the modern era.

To date, the Cavaliers have interviewed Alvin Gentry, Tyronn Lue, Adrian Griffin and Mark Price for their head coaching job. But the field appears to have been narrowed down to Lue, Gentry and perhaps Blatt. Both Gentry and Lue had their second interviews with GM David Griffin and owner Dan Gilbert this past week.
