According to Jeff Goodman of ESPN.com, potential No. 1 overall pick Joel Embiid is currently in Cleveland and will work out for the Cavaliers while in town. Embiid will also undergo a physical examination while visiting the Cavs and the visit will likely determine if Embiid will be the Cavs’ selection at the top of the 2014 NBA Draft.
Embiid, a native of Cameroon, missed the end of his freshman season with the Kansas Jayhawks due to a stress fracture in his back. He finished the season averaging 11.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.6 blocks for the Jayhawks, Embiid is reportedly the frontrunner for the No. 1 overall pick. His college teammate, Andrew Wiggins, and the Duke’s Jabari Parker are also in the discussion.
Embiid recently participated in 1 vs. 0 drills in Santa Monica, Calif., but did not attend the NBA Draft Combine. The Cavaliers will be the first team Embiid visits with, as it is expected he will have an idea if he will go No. 1 by the end of the visit.
