1986 – In a 114-97 Boston Celtics victory over the Houston Rockets in Game 6 of the NBA Finals, the Celtics won their 16th NBA championship. Both Larry Bird and Kevin McHale scored a game-high 29 points in this game and shot a combined 20-of-22 from the line.

After raising their banner in 1986, the Celtics would achieve their 17th one in 2008. The Celtics, who missed the playoffs for the first time since 2007, are rumored to be interested in Kevin Love and Carmelo Anthony. If Danny Ainge can accomplish the rapid rebuild once again, that would mean lightning struck twice within a decade for the Celtics.
