2004 – The Detroit Pistons clinched the second-round series victory after dominating the New Jersey Nets in Game 7, 90-69. Chauncey Billups and Richard Hamilton led the way with 22 and 21 points, respectively. The 2004 Pistons then went on to win the franchise’s first championship in 14 years.

The Pistons’ 2004 postseason appearance was their third of eight consecutive ones. They accomplished those playoff spots under four different coaches. Unfortunately, Detroit had to bring on its fifth different coach since the team last made the postseason in 2010. It is great to have Stan Van Gundy back with an NBA team. He will look to improve this struggling Pistons team as the head coach and head of basketball operations.
