2000 – With a 113-86 Los Angeles Lakers victory over the Sacramento Kings in Game 5, the eventual 2000 NBA champion Lakers defeated the Kings in the first-round series. Shaquille O’Neal had game-highs with 32 points and 18 rebounds. Kobe Bryant also chipped in 17 points in the win.

Bryant and the Lakers are not in the playoffs for the first time since 2005. The last time the franchise missed the postseason in consecutive seasons was 1975 and 1976. The star guard will be working with a new head coach this summer after Mike D’Antoni recently resigned.
