On This Date in NBA History: April 19, Hakeem Olajuwon Scored 52 Points

1990 – In a 130-127 Houston Rockets overtime loss to the Denver Nuggets, Hakeem Olajuwon (@DR34M) scored a career-high 52 points. He also led all players that night with 18 rebounds and 10 free throws made. Olajuwon and Sleepy Floyd combined for 80 points that evening, but the rest of the Rockets only put up 47 points.

Olajuwon, who was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008, has the ninth-most points scored and most blocked shots in NBA history. The 51-year-old is one of best big men of all-time and was selected to 12 All-Star games and won two NBA Finals.
